From novice to expert angler, Mauna Kea caters for all levels of experience. Up to 6 people will be provided with top quality tackle and will experience the best fishing spots with seasoned professionals ensuring you go where the fish Should be.

Sydney boasts an array of species, including Black, Striped, and Blue Marlin, as well as Yellowfin Tuna, Dolphin fish, Wahoo and Sharks. The unique conditions off Sydney allow for an opportunity to experience the thrill of game fishing within sight of the stunning skyline of Australia’s biggest city.

PORT STEPHENS

February to March

Two and a half hours north of Sydney by car, Port Stephens has proven itself as a premier destination for the serious fisherman and casual getaway seeker alike. With a friendly tourism industry and a thriving sport fishing culture, Port Stephens is an ideal location to set out on Mauna Kea. During the recent Feb/March peak seasons, Black Marlin over 700lb and Blue Marlin over 800lb have been captured along with many other world records for Marlin and other game fish.

Direct charter seaplane transfers as well as scheduled commercial flights to nearby Newcastle are available.

EXTENDED FISHING

Cruising December to May

With a 4 guest capacity, the Mauna Kea can comfortably fish up to 80 nautical miles from Sydney in an area bounded by Jervis Bay in the south to Port Stephens in the north. A hunt for big fish over two or more days is an amazing way to see the stunning New South Wales Coast.

BARRIER REEF

Queensland August to November

Famous around the world for its sun and sand, the Queensland coast is also home to the Great Barrier Reef and its effervescent array of saltwater wildlife. Whether your goal is to land a ’grander’ black marlin out from the continental shelf, or some of Australia’s premier light-tackle sport fish, the coastal islands and the reef that surrounds them offer many opportunities.

The Mauna Kea is well equipped for live on board trips, and if there is a specific location that you are set on seeing, we can take you there.
